On the odd occasion we run into issues with Microsoft Updates on certain machines. Sometimes a bad update gets sent out, but sometimes some machines just have...issues. In a number of those cases we have been able to fix the issue more quickly with the DISM tool than we would have been able to by re-imaging the machine. You can find the tool on Microsoft's site here:
The link has a lot of good information about how to use the tools and the downloads. But if you already have the tool and just need some quick commands, these are what I've used the most:
Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth
Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth
Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
As with any of the tools I present on this site, do your due diligence to understand what you are working with prior to using it.
